Implant Procedure

Single Tooth Dental Implant

When considering options for replacing a single tooth or multiple teeth, implants are a great and ideal option for replacement. Not only do implants preserve the bone in the area, but they also provide benefits such as creating better aesthetics and limiting trauma to surrounding teeth and support structures.

A customized crown is fabricated and retained onto the implant by a small screw. Typically, one implant can expect a 3 to 4 month healing period to proceed with the crown process after placement of an implant.

What is Implant?

An implant has three parts: Implant body, Abutment, and Crown.

The implant body acts as a root of a tooth, and the Implant crown act as a tooth that we usually know. The custom-made crown is a hand-made crown at our dental labs. The abutment connects the implant body and the crown.

Discussing Treatment Plan

Patients will discuss thoroughly with their doctor about the treatment plan. All the procedures will be explained. All the questions will be answered as well!

03

CBCT Scan

Most of the patients who want to get implants will need to take a CBCT scan. This scan will show the information about your jawbones and will help doctors to place implants properly.

04

Extraction   (if needed)

For patients who want to place implants, teeth on the site will be removed by the extraction procedure. For patients who don't have a tooth on the site, the extraction is unnecessary.

Bone Graft Procedure   (if needed)

The doctor will do a "bone graft procedure" if the patient's bone is not enough for the implant. A bone graft procedure will make your bone thicker. As you see the diagram on the right side, implants need enough diameter to be placed.

Implant Placement

This stage is the most critical stage. The implant will be placed with thorough preparation and precise surgery.

Healing Stage

After placing the implant, the healing stage is very essential so that the implant can combine with bone tissues. The healing stage will take 3-4 months depending on the patient's status. This time period will make your implant stronger and more stable. The patient will keep visiting the dental office to be checked up regularly by our doctor!

Digital Intraoral Scan

After 3-4 months of the healing period, you will visit the dental office to do an "Intraoral Scan."  This digital scan will deliver accurate information to our dental labs, and they will fabricate a special crown only for you. This will take 2-3 weeks because it is a hand-made crown by implant specialists.

Placing Abutment & Crown

After we receive your crown from our labs, we will make an appointment with you so that you can get your tooth as soon as possible. This is the final process!

Finished!

While this might seem like a lengthy procedure, the vast majority of patients find it well worth the time and cost because dental implants so closely resemble their natural teeth. A properly placed and cared for a dental implant is virtually indistinguishable from a healthy natural tooth in fit, feel, stability and function! Anything regarding this implant will be taken care of by our wonderful doctors!
